Upland birds include grouse, quail, ptarmigan and turkeys. Generally these birds are hunted, but they are also found as roadkills and can be mounted. A roadkill grouse does not need to be reported to the Ministry of Natural Resources to be possessed according to my local officer, but the name and address of the person possessing it and the date the bird was found need to be on a tag on the bird. Please freeze a grouse as soon as possible after death if wanted for taxidermy as they are very thin skinned and decay can set in fast. At present I am not mounting full size turkeys commercially.
